This study was based on the answers to the question: to what extent ICT skills are achieved by the students of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Education at the Catholic University of Chile, Maule, in their initial teaching training (ITT)? It was structured in two phases: an extensive one, with the application of a questionnaire to a sample of 321 students in their professional practice and 32 professors; also, an intensive phase to answer the questions arising from the first phase with students and professors invited to attend focus groups. The results revealed the students deficits on how to use the informatics tools Excel, Prezi, and the digital whiteboard; also unveiled they do not handle nor the technical neither the evaluation criteria to select the appropriate technological resources where the most frequently used are the online social networking Facebook and the MS Office Word. In general the future teachers reach a "good level" (5) in the development of these ICT competencies, on a scale of 1 to 7.
