dc.description.abstractOn the basis of a comprehensive review of the literature, a situational and prospective analysis is carried out in order to establish trends affecting the development of Library Science and Information Science within the framework of a globalized society. The main proposals of international and national organizations that contribute to the development of the area are mentioned and an analysis is made of the curricula trends of some educational institutions of librarianship in USA, Europe, Latin America and Chile. Possible fields of work are identified with a future look.
