dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this article is to outline the importance of developing reading comprehension skills in Latin America – specifically highlighting the need to work on comprehension skills along decoding skills. A plausible strategy is proposed: to start with an early age teaching of a series of elements at the core of comprehension (vocabulary, grammar, and complex spoken language skills), with an emphasis on narrative abilities.
