In academic writing, authors use quotations to demonstrate the relationship between their written work and other texts that they have used as references, as well as to describe the sources from which they have obtained their ideas. In this way the readers have the opportunity to analyze and evaluate their work, as well as to verify and obtain more information about the topic. Nevertheless it is necessary to explore the rationality in the dialogic process of writing and its potential as an integral part of the processes of the construction of knowledge.
