dc.description.abstractThis paper focus on the problems faced by Escuelas Normales Publicas del Estado de Mexico who are required to certify their administrative processes under the international standard ISO 9001:2008. For that reason, an overview of the organizational aspects is presented to effectively consider the reactions or the staff in front of the change. Chapter one shows an overview of ISO 9001:2008 and basic concepts about quality. It also highlights the administrative parts of an educational institution and its challenges to face organizational change. Chapter two focuses on the organization theory, power distribution and leadership from different perspectives in order to draw a way for the educational administration and its impact on the process of change within it. It is pretended to approach the reader to the events that an educational organization has to deal with as a natural response to the implementation of any new or unknown system. ISO 9000 and its implementation are referred in the third chapter. Similarly, the general reactions of any organization’s staff are analyzed considering the changes generated naturally in any working environment. In the last chapter, Escuela Normal is analyzed based on the strategic planning that this institution does, and is evaluated through an analysis of strengths and weaknesses comparing the school to other higher education institutions that offer the same or similar studies. It also presents an analysis tool that aims to show the appreciation of the staff of the certification process. To sum up, the change process requires several stages of consolidation, so this should only be used as a general guide for achieving that objective, it should be emphasized that the importance that certification of processes has reached during the last five years in educational institutions, which justifies the importance and significance of the content of this thesis.
