Resumen
Egg and early larvae of shortfin corvina (Cynoscion parvipinnis) are described and illustrated. Eggs were obtained spawning wild caught adults collected in June and July of 1984 in Magdalena Bay, Baja California Sur, México. Eggs were pelagic transparent and spherical, present a single oil globule, mean corion diameter was 0.87 mm in June and 0.80 mm in July. When the larvae hatch they had a mean notochordal lenght of 1.40 mm; they had an ellipsoid yolk-sac in which the oil globule was situated in a lower subterminal position. Absorption of yolk-sac and oil globule was complete by day 3, when larvae's mean notochordal lenght was 2.14 mm. Fin rays from mid fins and pelvic fins did not develop. Morphometrically larvae did not change from yolk-sac's absorption until day 11 posthatch, when experiment finished. Maximum size attained was 2.70 mm notochordal lenght.
