Several aspects of the biology of the species of the genus Mugil ocurring in La Paz Bay, Baja California Sur, with special regard for juvenile are presented. There are three species in the area: “lisa rayada”, M. cephalus; “lisa blanca” or “lebrancha” M. curema and “lisa roñosa”, M. hospes. A key for the eight species of Mugilidae existing in the eastern Pacific Ocean is presented, and diagnostic characters for species of La Paz are given. The spawning season for M. cephalus is in winter; M. curema spawns in spring and beginning summer and M. hospes in the second half of sumer and early autumn. A nematode parasite was found in the abdominal cavity of M. curema; isopods were found in this species and in M. hospes (S. O. Flabellifera) in gill and mouth cavities, respectively. A List showing the fishes that were captured along with the lisas is given; the most common species were the “mojarras”, Eucinostomus spp. and Eugerres axillaris.
