Background: In the recent past, the use of normobaric hyperoxia and currently with hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO), have been used to cause tissue hyperoxia, and which has succeeded in reducing the increase in blood lactate concentration, and therefore muscle fatigue. There are limited data, indeed contradictory on the effects of HBO on the performance of athletes. The objective. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of HBO session on the performance of young swimmers trained together with the metabolic behavior (lactate and glucose) and a test cardiorespiratory staggered 7x200 meters before and after the session. Material and methods: We conducted a longitudinal, prospective, and controlled with 12 swimmers divided into two groups according to HBO and a control group. Two tests were conducted 7X200 staggered one without and one with HBO HBO. The test was performed without HBO in the morning after light breakfast and 8 days after the session was conducted HBO, with the same power features. The parameters of the OHB session were as follows: 2 ATA 100% oxygen, 10 minutes of pressurization, isopressure (time OHB) for 50 minutes, release pressure for 15 minutes breathing HBO made to avoid inhalation of nitrogen and generation of fatigue. In the space of 45 minutes after the HBO session step test was performed 7X200m swimming in the stadium track. Rest periods between segments were tightly controlled: 1 minute after every 200 meters and 3 minutes between 3x200 meters and 5 minutes before the final run, at which timeThe blood samples of blood was received in which lactate and glucose. Partial rate was controlled at 200 meter runners, time was measured in each section and HR with Heart Rate Pulse. Results: OHB session was increased the anaerobic threshold, glucose basal levels during test and decresed the glucose level during recuperation only en experimental group. 12 Conclusion: OHB session impairs the anaerobic threshold and carbohydrate metabolism during test and recuperation period.
