This study was conducted to determine if there is an increase in gunshot injuries of fire in a hospital unit of the Ministry of Health of Mexico City, as such information may also indirectly reflect the insecurity prevailing in Mexico City and suburbs. The study was a clinical, observational, transversal, retrospective and descriptive. Was conducted in the General Hospital Xoco with the review of 5 years from 2005 to 2009 in which I catch to all patients of any age and sex who were wounded by a bullet fire in any area of the body. As main findings, reported injuries in the extremities, which reflects the intention of those who shot them was not to produce death, but probably only to rob them or scare them. Also note that many were injured by fighting or at parties that ended in fights, this indicates that many people carry firearms probably illegal, for fun or out of fear many people today are carrying firearms which has increased the frequency of persons injured by the bullets of these weapons. The frequency of this condition with respect to all conditions seen in the ED was 0.23% to 0.35%. for what is considered a condition not common in this hospital but their social relevance is more important. Keywords: gunshot wound, emergency, fire a bullet.
