Resumen
Background: In the 70's the intubation was part of surgical management,
however the need to manage critical patient takes its importance in the 80's,
with the creation of Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI). The IRS is the protocol by
which individualizes the use of drugs to prevent adverse effects and search for
the realization of successful intubation of critically ill patients. Emergencies,
such as entry area critically ill patients requires effective management of the
airway, essential for maintaining vital functions, being obtained with the use of
SRI.
Objetive: To identify the application of rapid sequence endotracheal intubation
in the emergency department HGZ 1, Tlaxcala.
Method: Descriptive study, prolective, prospective, cross-sectional which
includes critical patients requiring endotracheal intubation.
Results: There were 37 patients, observing the implementation of SRI in 91.8%
of cases, with 100% success rate of intubation, but not completely 100% SRI.
We observed higher prevalence of male patients (56%) over 60 years (60%),
and added factor of ERT (48%). Intubation was performed by resident
physicians (89%) more often, mostly in the night shift (48.6%). The association
of drugs most used for intubation was midazolam/vecuronium (86.5%).
Conclusion: The SRI is applied in most cases, not complete, making intubation
successfully.
