Resumen
In this work were carried out measurements of boundary layer, flow separation and
pressure distribution on the airfoil for wind turbine S830 to find the boundary layer
thickness, the flow separation point, the coefficient of lift and drag coefficient for
different flow conditions including Reynolds numbers of 189 000, 315 000 and 440
000, angle of attack of 0 º, 5 º, 11 º and 17 º, and turbulence levels of 0.5% and
10%.
The purpose was to develop a behavioral study of boundary layer on the S830
airfoil. To this purpose built three blades in polyester resin string 19 cm and 60 cm
in size to cover the three areas of measurement, boundary layer, flow visualization
and pressure distribution. The blade for measuring the pressure distribution was
adapted to a total of 35 static pressure taps. The velocity profiles in boundary layer
were made the same points of location of pressure taps. The blade for flow
visualization was adapted with tufts of 2 cm in length located on the suction side to
locate the point of flow separation.
Experimental tests were carried out in the wind tunnel LABINTHAP. This is a test
section 80 cm x 60 cm and reaches a maximum flow rate of 70 m / s and a
minimum turbulence level less than 1%. The boundary layer measurements were
carried out by hot-wire anemometry. The hot-wire probe used for this purpose was
55P15 calibrated in a range of speeds from 0.5 to 60 m / s.
