Resumen
Technological development has increased the demand for more and more
sophisticated products, leading to electronic replacement in shorter and shorter
cycles. This represents a disposal of great proportions, generating so-called
electronic waste, which constitutes an environmental issue, especially when
disposed inadequately. A way to prevent pollution and contamination of the
environment by this waste is the reuse. Considering these alternatives, this research
had as objective to analyze, through a case study, the reuse actions of electronic
waste carried out at the Marist Center of Digital Inclusion (CMID) in Santa Maria (RS,
Brazil). The data was obtained through a bibliographic study, interviews and
questionnaires. The analysis of this data was conducted through the data
triangulation strategy. The research findings indicated that is possible to transform
electronic waste into a reusable good, increasing its useful life, therefore contributing
to environmental preservation. Furthermore, it is highlighted that the Marist Center of
Digital Inclusion may be considered as a site of electronic waste disposal and a
reference for future multiplications and replications of actions and ideas.
