Resumen
The industrial facilities in general, always present a great potential for studies of
efficiency and energy savings due to the high energy consumption and diversity of
equipment, and electric motors have the largest share of this consumption. In this
sense, the work in question had the objective of presenting a case study of energy
diagnosis in an ice factory in São Paulo, with a main focus on currently installed motors
and electric energy bills. The characteristics of the equipment were surveyed and the
necessary measurements were made for a technical-economic evaluation of the
energy saving opportunities and reduction of the financial expenses. A literature review
was also carried out on the question of the consumption of power in the country as well
as the main types of equipment used and their perspectives regarding energy
efficiency. The case study was also preceded by a description of the methodologies
for the elaboration of an Energy Diagnosis, which is usually quite broad, especially
when it comes to large installations, which makes it necessary to involve a large
number of inspections and evaluations, as well as to establish routines During the
process and after performing the diagnosis. Finally, the results of the study showed
that the replacement of current engines by new high-performance engines is highly
advantageous, representing an annual reduction in energy consumption of 24.8% and
the recovery of the investment occurred in just 07 months. This reduction combined
with changes in the load curve also led to an annual saving of 28% in the electricity
bill.
