Resumen
The management of projects, people and businesses is increasingly present in the day to day business, where the need to create innovative products, services, low cost, quality and that meet the needs of the consumer, is not an easy task, however necessary to remain competitive in the market. To achieve these goals, companies invest in studies in the development of their projects, where they seek to improve the entire life cycle of the project. With this, management techniques help in the management and development of project work, seeking improvements through planned and controlled processes, where errors and wastes are reduced, thus allowing better results with lower costs. In engineering projects like Baja SAE, teams formed by academics, design and manufacture off-road vehicles. The project follows a regulation established by SAE Brazil, where a series of requirements must be fulfilled, and then evaluated in a competition, where the team that presents the best solutions in its project, being efficient and innovative, obtains better scores. For this, teams can use management strategies similar to those used in companies, and thus achieve better results with their projects. In this way, the present work aims to systematize the knowledge through a documented procedure for the management of Baja SAE project teams. For the elaboration of the work, a literature review was first carried out to identify the project management methodologies and available process
modeling techniques. In order to identify the management procedures used by the teams, as well as the difficulties encountered, a questionnaire was developed and applied to eight teams participating in SAE projects. From this, we selected the main processes and management tools that can be used as good practices for the development of Baja SAE projects, where the PMBOK guide was used as a basis. The management activities were divided in five groups of processes, where each of them presents as output a standard document, containing the main information obtained during the process, where they were elaborated models of these documents to be used
by the teams. In order to facilitate the exchange of information and to carry out a greater detail of the activities to be developed, we opted for modeling the project management process. This was done through the technique of Integration Definition for Function Modeling (IDEF0), which, through a graphic representation of blocks connected by arrows, indicates the process
flow and the inputs, outputs, mechanisms and controls associated with each activity. With the elaboration of the model for project management of Baja SAE teams, we contribute with the detailing and systematization of the management process, focused on this type of project, where its use can be for improvements in existing projects and for the development of new teams,
allowing and facilitating the accomplishment of project management.
