Mechanized and procedures -that are far away from the student’s reality- as well as problem solving using formal rules are generally the ways used by most schools to teach Mathematics. Thus, this work aimed at providing knowledge and information, so that children can understand the importance of Mathematical Education, as well as the importance of the separation and collection of solid waste in an integrated manner. The study was conducted from August to October 2013 with 25 students in the 5th grade of elementary school of Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental Manuel Bandeira, in Lajeado/ RS. Questions, lectures, playful and interactive lessons were used for the implementation and construction of knowledge, aiming at achieving changes in habits and attitudes. The students responded very well in all the moments of the project, participating in the proposed activities. This participation was evident when answering to questions. Mathematical Education necessarily involves encouraging students to inquire, which leads them to gain confidence in their ability, potential, and self-esteem that provide greater interest in learning.
