Projeto quintais sustentáveis uma ação especifica de enfrentamento à pobreza rural nos assentamentos de reforma agrária no Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

This study deals with the matter of poverty within Rio Grande do Sul settlements, through notes and analysis of issues that allow a better understanding of the reasons why many settled families still remain in poverty. It points out on the public policies agenda there are on the topic of the development of agrarian reform areas and also on how they are related or not related with the poorest. Afterwards, the study analyzes the Projeto Quintais Sustentáveis (Sustainable Yards Project) as a specific and unprecedented action in order to overcome poverty in Rio Grande do Sul settlements. Drawn from combined efforts, the project is driven to the families in poverty situation, in a way to foresee the establishment of two hectares of various food crops. With the ATES program support, the project also opens paths and approaches its teams to the poverty subject, challenging them to emerge in this reality and to act on the multiple dimensions around the matter, providing great learnings on this nice and bold journey towards the poverty overcome and towards the social and productive inclusion of the poorest families as well.
