The Law of Directives and Bases of National Education No 9394/96 , laid the foundations of democratic management to promote exercise of citizenship. With that enables the practice of participative management . The School Boards arise as a way of putting into practice democratic management , that is, the opportunity to democratize the school management in their administrative , political and pedagogical aspects , and is therefore the most significant room for the exercise of democracy , as the school community is represented there . This is because teachers, parents , students and staff , School Board members , participate in activities at school , contributing to the improvement of the aspects of interest in the same , both physical , economic and educational , since this action has a collective nature , relying on the joint participation of all participants in the Council . This work has the interest to verify the performance of School Boards in schools in the city of Seven Passes . The main objective was to investigate how the performance of school boards contributes to the consolidation of democratic management in local schools , leading to a reflection on aspects of decentralization and supervisory activities . The methodology used in this study was a case study with a questionnaire . The study indicates that in Alfa school the school board has a recognized presence and the school has improved since its introduction . However the Delta school, still needs more directly involved board members in decision making . The democratic management is to promote greater coordination among the counselors and the school community to participate more actively.
