dc.description.abstractThe present research was developed in the Post-Graduate Program in Professional and Technological Education of the Industrial Technical College of Santa Maria (CTISM / UFSM), in the research line Innovation for Professional and Technological Education, which has been contemplating studies and studies that evaluate resources Or innovative teaching methodologies. This work consists of listing the contributions of the use of the social network Facebook for the development of Meaningful learning, and its general objective is to investigate the use of Facebook's secret groups, as a tool to implement this learning model in the discipline of Systems Physiology. As a complement it has specific objectives: to analyze how the use of the secret group on Facebook can contribute to the collaborative and responsible participation of students in the discipline and to evaluate if participation in a secret group on Facebook facilitates the development of Meaningful learning. The research is characterized by being a case study, with exploratory objectives and with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through the use of conceptual maps and students' participation in activities in a secret group on Facebook. From the analysis of the collected data, it is inferred that the use of this social network as a pedagogical tool can bring several contributions to the development of Significant Learning, such as: The contact with a diversified material that expands the previous knowledge of the students, the possibility of space expansion and classroom time, providing the student with a better organization of his / her study time and the humanization of the student teacher relationship. However, especially as we develop vocational and technological education, we encounter several obstacles, which make this type of education even more challenging.
