FUNDEB: recursos disponibilizados e sua aplicação no município de Santa Vitória do Palmar (RS)

Abstract

The present study evaluates the adequacy of the resources of the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (FUNDEB - Fundo de Manutenção e Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica e de Valorização dos Profissionais da Educação) in Santa Vitória do Palmar (RS) and the performance of students in IDEB. A descriptive analysis from data obtained in websites of Rio Grande do Sul Court of Auditors', Ministry of Education, National Confederation of Municipalities and especially information obtained from the Municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar (Municipal Education Secretariat, Department of Human Resources and Accounting Department). It was found that the application of FUNDEB resources in the public teaching system is sufficient to pay professionals of education and investment in the maintenance and development of basic education. However, these resources have not resulted in better performance rates of students from the municipal schools (IDEB).
