A educação ambiental e o uso de dejetos líquidos de suínos em propriedades rurais do município de Novo Barreiro - RS

Abstract

The increasing world population and the consequent search for food production have transformed the productive sector, especially regarding breeding. Companies seek to maximize production in small areas, leading to the confinement of animals, such as intensive pig farming. This work broach the use of the swine liquid efluent and this environmental impacts in rural properties in the city of Novo Barreiro-RS. The objective of this work was to verify use of swine liquid efluent and guide farmers on the rational and sustainable use, to prevent the contamination of natural resources. For this, a questionnaire was applied to characterize the property, seeking data analysis and intervention on environmental education with the distribution of a booklet. It was observed that the majority of respondents apply a high amount in the dosage of liquid pig manure on farms, up to 150 m³ / year / hectare, far from that recommended by EMBRAPA, which are 40 m³ / year / hectare. It was found that none of the respondents received some type of guidance regarding the amount of swine liquid efluent manure, to be used as organic fertilizer in crops, nor about the location, type of crop and minimum distances required by environmental agencies in relation to critical points.
