Proteinograma de búfalos de diferentes faixas etárias na região central do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

The buffalo culture is an activity in expansion in Brazil. The changes found in proteinogram are not always associated with pathological processes, physiological variations are constant. Thus, it is necessary to know about the proteinogram of healthy buffaloes of different ages, for an after comparison with possible pathological processes that these animals can develop during their lifetime. The aim of this research was to evaluate the age influence on the proteinogram in buffaloes with six, twelve and twenty-four months. It was used 45 crossbred buffaloes, reared under extensive system. The buffaloes were divided into three groups according to their age, of both sexes, as follows: group 1 (G1) - six months old animals (n = 15), group 2 (G2) - twelve months old animals (n = 16) and group 3 (G3) - twenty-four months old animals (n = 14). Statistical difference (p <0.05) was observed in serum total protein and highly significant difference (p <0.01) were observed between the beta globulin fraction, gamma globulin, as well as in the albumin:globulin relation. The results of this study have revealed that, except for albumin and alpha globulin fraction, all other components of the protein showed the influence of age
