This study aimed to understand how physical education teachers in elementary school
working with students in their classes’ wheelchair in public and whether they feel empowered
to deal with the process of inclusion in their classes.
For data collection was used as an instrument a questionnaire for this study consists
of five open questions. The sample was composed of five teachers from state and municipal
public schools of the city of South Caçapava who work or have worked with students Chair in
Physical Education. In the data analysis was proven the lack of preparation of teachers, poor
physical conditions and material inappropriate for them to develop the process of teaching and
learning of their students with special educational needs (NEE), was also evident lack of
public policies to resolve these problems in relation to the inclusion in school. This study
highlighted by the responses of teachers, the need for professional training at the beginning of
the course of Physical Education and supporters teachers during their classes. We conclude
that the physical education teachers seek higher qualification to work with NEE pupils,
inclusiveness is a reality in schools and unfortunately the teacher still does not find the
necessary support to face it with the inclusion process is not restricted only the responsibility
of the teacher and, yes, the whole Educational System.
