Public Policies are developed actions by governments by means of programs, and may be directed to a
specific audience. The school lunch is a public policy that seeks to adequate food for the students, who
are in a phase of growth and development. This study aimed at identifying how the city halls of
Frederico Westphalen become viable the National Program of School Feeding in municipal schools.
From bibliographic survey on public policies and the legislation that governs the program was drawn
up the theoretical framework and organized the roadmap for the interview, and this is the basis of the
data collection. The work presents as methodo the case study, a qualitative approach investigative. It
was observed, using the information obtained, that the municipal manager and the nutritionist
accompany the program in the municipality and they try to analyze and meet what the legislation
provides, in order to maintain access to the program, thus benefiting the students of municipal schools.
In addition, it was found that commitment to ensure the quality of products purchased for school
meals, as well as commitment to not let this be lacking for students. On the other hand, it was found
that meet the requirements of the program and follow the process, it is bureaucratic, time-consuming
and generates some disorders. Finally, it was concluded that the municipal government of Frederico
Westphalen, enables the National Program of School Meals to meet the demands and actions
demanded by this.
