Arquivo Histórico Sindicato dos Bancários de Porto Alegre: diagnóstico da documentação fotográfica

Abstract

This research shows an analysis about diagnosing photographic documentation as a stage of filling intervention in archival files. It uses a case study of an archival institution, the Arquivo Histórico Sindicato dos Bancários de Porto Alegre (AHSBPOA). A set of documents of the institution is analysed. This study makes considerations over the photographic diagnosis and the technical procedures that are used to preserve photography, from its support to the monitoring of the storage environment. This study examines the rules and recommendations for archives and correlate areas that work with photographic document diagnosis. This study also proposes a diagnosis tool based on the tool presented by Centro de Conservação e Preservação Fotográfica (CCPF) for Fundação Nacional de Artes (FUNARTE). This study analyses a sample from the photography collection of AHSBPOA and its storage environmental conditions. All this data is processed and compared with the temperature and the relative humidity of the institution and the city of Porto Alegre. It also talks about contemporary photographic processes, its conservation and solutions for the photographic collection of the AHSBPOA. This research goes over its outcome and reaches the conclusion that diagnosing photographic documents is fundamental for strategic planning with the aim of conserving photographic collections.
