dc.description.abstractThe democratic representation always involved several complex mechanisms of political participation and organization of the electoral process. Thereby, the political rights identifies the different procedural means by which ones electoral exercised political rights of every citizen is warranted. Among the most common electoral systems is present the majority system of single-member constituency. This monographic study aims to understand the democracy and representative qualities that this model provides by analyzing their species, noting its advantages and disadvantages, reviewing some criticisms and observing some democratic countries that uses the majority system of single-member constituency in their elections. It was used the method of deductive approach, since the research assumed representative democracy as an expression of popular sovereignty to analyze the effectiveness of the district vote to qualify citizen participation in public space. As a research technique, was adopted the procedure literature.
