dc.description.abstractThe present work aims to make a study about the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB) in the context of the Second Republic, more precisely, from 1945 (when the Party had a brief period on legality) to 1958 (when the Party was criticized due to internal problems). There will be highlighted the government's positions in relation to this Party, as well as the communists' actions and the problems they had faced in times of lawlessness. The situation of the members of the Party who lived in the city of Santa Maria at that period will also be analyzed, in order to stablish relations between the local context and the national context.
