Resumen
The present work aims to investigate the decision-making of graduates in Mathematics in the
face of economic-financial situations, mobilizing records of semiotic representation. To do
this, a qualitative research is carried out following the principles of content analysis and a
semi-structured questionnaire and four tasks involving 28 questions that explore economic
and financial situations are taken as a source of data production, culminating in the
determination of the current value model for the Uniform Series of Payments. Based on the
analysis of the results of the tasks and from the following categories: sociocultural, economicfinancial
and behavioral, among the results it is highlighted that the participants of the
research revealed arguments mainly related to economic-financial aspects, followed by
behavioral and sociocultural in rare cases. It is also observed that the graduates mobilized
several transformations of treatment and conversion by arguing their choices and in the
sociocultural category they exclusively used registers of representation in natural language; in
the economic-financial category mobilized both the natural-language registers as well as
numerical, symbolic and tabular algebra; And in the behavioral category they used natural,
numeric, symbolic algebraic representation registers. Regarding the determination of the
current value model (PV) of the Uniform Series of Payment, the licensees related the sum of
the present values of all the installments to the finite sum of a Geometric Progression, which
was represented in the algebraic representation record from the analysis of numeric
representations and cash flow.
