O uso da quebra-pedra (Phyllanthus niruri L.) como planta medicinal pela comunidade de São Miguel (Restinga Seca, RS, Brasil)

In March 2010 the National Agency for Sanitary Surveillance (ANVISA) resolution with published guidelines on the therapeutic use of herbal drugs in relieving symptoms of diseases in low gravity, based on this information, this study aimed to evaluate the correct use of tea break-stone (Phyllanthus niruri L.) by the community of Sao Miguel, Restinga Seca (RS), to relieve disorders of the urinary tract parallel to this. Fifty families were visited and consulted through a questionnaire on the use of the plant, after the interview, informants received information about the correct use of stone-breaking, in light of the publication of ANVISA. The results proved that the majority of respondents identified the break-stone species (Phyllanthus niruri) indicated ANVISA and uses the plant for the treatment of urinary diseases. However, in general, one can say that families in this community do not use the tea properly, since the frequency of daily use and duration of treatment did not follow the specifications of the Agency.
