Chronic lung diseases are characterized by persistent airflow obstruction with an inflammatory response and systemic manifestations. The impact of these diseases reaches significant representation on a global level, and in Brazil it is no different. Extrapulmonary manifestations are recurrent and represent an important risk factor for health maintenance. The objective of this research was to analyze the clinical-functional and quality of life profile of chronic pulmonary patients entering the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. This is a cross-sectional and analytical epidemiological study carried out with the patients entering the pulmonary rehabilitation program (PRP) at a University Hospital in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, from February to May 2017, and all subjects involved were diagnosed with chronic lung disease. We evaluated 28 patients, aged 57.41 ± 12.07 years. 16 (57,1%) were female, 19 (67,9%) were former smokers and 4 (14,3%) were using O2 at home. The most common underlying disease was moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 12 (42,9%) of the participants, and the associated disease was prevalent in 10 (37,7%) arterial hypertension patients. 14 (58,3%) had a high risk of obstructive sleep apnea, 7 (25%) were malnourished and 9 (32,1%) had severe depletion. Severe depletion, decreased palmar grip strength, and decreased expiratory muscle strength were found. Impaired safety in swallowing, high risk for sleep apnea and high impact on quality of life were found.
