Formação e atuação do farmacêutico: uma percepção a partir de um programa de residência multiprofissional integrada

This paper presents an initial reflection on the teaching and practice of pharmacy in a
process of training non-traditional, such as which promotes for a multidisciplinary
residence program. Objective is, thus, support and systematize ideas concerning the
education and practice of the pharmacist, considering the role it should play in
society, as a health professional. The theoretical framework that supports this
thought comes: the legal documents of the National Curricular Guidelines for
Undergraduate Pharmacy Education, programme of the Integrated Multidisciplinary
Residence Program in Public Health System, Federal University of Santa Maria, as
well as studies that deal of training and practice of pharmacy in the Brazilian context.
The insights of practical experience in the environment of those who subscribes to
this text, are also subsidies for their development. Among the concluding remarks,
we highlight the indispensability of the redefinition of graduate in pharmacy, it is
insufficient mere aggregation of professional qualifications, devoid of a new
conception of what is a pharmacist technically competent and socially committed. Still
considers the practice of pharmaceutical care must be main orientation of teaching
and acting of the pharmacist and the rescue of their professional identity.
