Resumen
A good physical fitness provides a better
performance of daily activities. Besides, it is
related with less obstructive coronary artery
disease, obesity and hypocinetic disorders. The
aim of this study was to evaluate the healthrelated
physical fitness in Itaara’s students.
Sample size comprises 69 subjects (43 girls and
26 boys) between 13 and 14 years, students of
the two municipal schools in the city. The physical
fitness was evaluated by muscular/resistance
using tests if abdominal flexion. Flexibility was
demonstrated by seat-and-reach test, and
cardiorespiratory conditioning by the 9-minuteswalking-
running trial. To assess body composition
were measured body mass index (BMI) and fat
percentual. The kids were divided into groups: A:
13 years old male B: 14 years old male C: 13
years old female D: 14 years old female.
Quantitative data were analyzed: descriptive
statistic of mean, standard desviation. Healthy
values were obtained in 3 indicators in group A, in
2 indicators in group B and C and just in 1 from
group D. These results suggest that the sample
are at risk to develop diseases related to
sedentary lifestyle. Because of that its necessary
to know if these subjects are involved in some
kind of regular physical activity and to encourage
a healthier lifestyle.
