This paper presents a case study about the lighting condition of the circulation areas of a public building. Regulatory compliance was verified and, if necessary, changes are proposed aiming at greater energy efficiency. Simulations and lighting measurements are conducted in the corridors and the results obtained are compared. As evaluated criteria, the mean illumi-nance, the uniformity factor and the energy consumption are chosen. The results show that it is possible to reduce by half the number of installed lamps without reduce the level of illumi-nance required.
