Resumen
This research aims at identifying strategies to preserve digital documents in archives,
thus expanding the knowledge in this area in order to facilitate their transfer to future
generations. To identify those strategies four specific aims were formulated: a) to
present the current strategies for preserving digital documents in archives; b) to
identify in the literature the criteria of digital preservation in archives; c) to identify in
the literature the policies of digital preservation in archives; d) to gather knowledge
about the needs of digital preservation of archival documents. It was found by
reviewing the literature in Archival Science that the digital preservation is a study
object that proposes standards, rules, policies, procedures and criteria (for digital
preservation). In order to understand the theoretical and methodological approaches
that have been published, there was a data collection of references on the topic of
preserving digital documents in archives searching mainly recent texts related to
Archival Science. Firstly, a selection of materials found in databases online (Portal
CAPES periodical), articles, theses, texts, web pages, books and conference
proceedings has been made. In otder to have a better organization of research
material a table has been created containing: the author's name, title, file name, file
type and year. This descriptive research has showed that digital preservation is
related to storage capacity, migration and dissemination of information, which is most
often administered centrally. In order to solve such problems there are various
proposals today for digital preservation. Among the current most used strategies,
presented in this research it is clear that the technique most widely used and quoted
by the authors is the migration, as it is the most feasible and reliable to be deployed
and it is also focused on the content and not only on the support. Preserving not only
the content itself but also its support is of fundamental importance.
