dc.description.abstractThis research presents some investigations about the notion of stereotypes (SILVA, 2003), present in the school environment and experiences with the visual culture (HERNÁNDEZ, 2007) in the elementary school, thought from the teacher training of pedagogues, from the images that are recurrent in these educational spaces and the resonances in the students' visual productions. As a research problem, we attempted to think: in what ways could we problematize the stereotypes in the elementary school from the visual culture? As a methodology, bricolagem was adopted (KINCHELOE, 2006) as a proposal that allows the weaving of different cultural elements that result in something new. In this case, the field diary was used as a registration tool, since bricolagem does not work for preexisting guidelines and scripts, but it creates investigation procedures as new encounters arise .The study scenario took place in a State School of the city Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, and had as collaborators some teachers from the elementary school and students of a class of 5th grade, where I completed my Supervision Academic Internship. It was observed that stereotypes in educational spaces are recurrent, because they are found in didactic materials, in reproductions and or copies of students from the images chosen by teachers, and in their consistent conceptions of beautiful and ugly. Also, it can be concluded that the students do not participate in the construction of the visual artifacts of the school space.
