Resumen
The Theory of Constraints (TOC) is better known in the factory environment, where the system constraint is a bottleneck, but not well know in other contexts, as the supply chain management. At the same time, there is the big deal faced by the retail logistics and its doubt between keeping high level of stock by a high cost, or minimize it bearing the disruptions. This article has the objective of testing the effects of TOC application in the supply chain of a retail store. The results presented in the book “Isn’t obvious?”, from Goldratt (2011), systematized trough seven assertive, were investigated by the modelling and discrete event simulation methodology, using the software Flexsim in the initial and final situations, analyzing its performance. The decrease in stock and the more often supply allowed to decrease the disruption from 28,63% to 1,47%, increasing 2,86 times the inventory turnover, 3,02 times the net profit and 8,64 times the return over investment. The effects of TOC in the performance indicators of a retail supply chain were proved, indicating a way of avoiding disruptions without increasing stocks.
