Resumen
Archival documents were digitally produced and gave rise to so-called Digital Archival Records - DADs that brought with them new challenges inherent in their digital support, especially for the long-term preservation of the essential characteristics of archival documents, Such as authenticity and reliability, threatened by the rapid obsolescence of hardware and software and the ease of unauthorized alteration and corruption. In the Brazilian public sphere, the Federal Constitution of 1988 imputed to the public administration the obligation of management, preservation and access to governmental documents, delimiting such responsibilities for each of the three branches. The Federal Legislative Branch, exercised by the National Congress, develops fundamental roles of elaboration and approval of laws, representation of the Brazilian people and the federal states, as well as of inspection of the Union and of the direct and indirect Administration. The collections of its Legislative Houses are centenaries and are part of the historical construction of the country, increasingly are produced in digital means, constitute documentary assets of its institutions and the nation being essential to be preserved authentic and accessible for the time they are made Necessary, for years, decades, or permanently. In this context, this study sought to verify the existence of initiatives to preserve DADs in the Federal Legislative Branch in accordance with pertinent national legislation through interviews held in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Federal Senate. The results show that there are preservation initiatives and at what stage of development they are.
