The objective of this work is to propose a theoretical reflection on the relationship between geometry, studied in mathematics, and molecular geometry, studied in chemistry through the standpoint of semiotic representation registers Raymond Duval and Mathematical Modeling. To this end, molecular models were constructed using materials such as styrofoam balls, toothpicks and plastic straws so that research could be applied in a public school without implying high costs. An analysis was made on the models constructed by students through the ability that they had to use different registers to represent the objects of study. Thus, one can verify the presence of the main assumptions by Duval for the application of research as well as was possible to use mathematical modeling in the educational field.
