A aprendizagem do sistema braille por pessoas com cegueira adquirida

This work looked for recognizing the forms of apprenticeship and the effects of the Braille System in
the Socialization of people with acquired blindness. As theoretical reference are cited: Vygotsky
(1989), Kovács (1997), Silva,(2004) ,Defendi (2011), Sá (2014), among others. The research brings a
brief historic of the person with visual impairment over the time, the definitions of visual impairment,
as well as the cause of the loss of vision in the adulthood. It’s emphasized the contribution of Louis
Braille to develop the system of reading and Braille writing, one of the biggest advances to the
development of the blind people, making possible a greater access to culture and to their social
environment. The general objective of this study is to know the contributions of the Braille system for
the autonomy, independence and social inclusion to the adult blind person. This research has a
qualitative nature, having as method the case study. The informations were collected, from a semi structured interview script that were answered by three adults with acquired blindness, one of them
attends a Santa Maria institution. After analyzing these data, it is concluded that there contributions of
the Braille System, as the reasons that took the participants to the apprenticeship were the insertion
in a world with visual impaired people. Therefore, it can be highlighted that it is a very significant
resource to the blind person, being a important research in the social inclusion.
