This article aims to analyze the media coverage of women participation in the Rio 2016 Olympics, as well as to recognize and analyze the main characteristics that involve the construction of sports information, regarding the constitution of the female gender in sport. For that, a descriptive-analytical base methodology with a qualitative scope was used and the base of data collection was turned to the cut of reports of the Globoesporte.com news portal. As a result, the reassertion of representations of femininities and discourses that disfigure the feminine sport was found.
