Postpartum depression is a significant disease, approximately 10 to 20% of women suffer from this psychiatric disorder and is considered an important public health problem. This disease is characterized by depressed mood, fatigue, depression, loss of pleasure, with onset usually within the first four weeks after delivery. This study aims to discover the criteria required to lower the national indices of postpartum depression (PPD), to identify the existence of training courses on the DPP to health teams in the Basic Health and characterize the implications of the DPP in the interaction mother and baby. Currently, what makes partum depression a major problem is the lack of early identification, prevention and treatment. The women are examined by their doctors or general practitioners in consultations focused on physical recovery after childbirth and, when they have depression, are often not properly diagnosed. This is a qualitative approach to research and literature. The criteria for improving maternal health and preclude preventable deaths is a major challenge, the DDP is still an object of study full of mysteries we have tools that help us, but not yet fully combat. The training of health workers should be intensified, because the implications for mother-infant interaction are severe.
