dc.description.abstractThis research entitled "Perceptions of Special Educators in the Literacy Process of Students with Intellectual Disabilities", aimed to analyze the pedagogical strategies that special educators use in the literacy process of students with intellec tual disabilities. Theoretical background covers the following themes: Special Education Background, Intellectual Disability, Pedagogical Strategies. In the methodology it was used a qualitative approach, where a case study was performed and having as instruments for collecting data a semi-structured interview. The subjects of this research were Special Educators of the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul and who act in Multifunctional Resource Room. As outcome, it was observed that the teachers have their perception of literacy and pedagogical strategies that assist the students' learning, focusing on their learning, through the playful, concrete materi als so that they can develop highlighting their potentialities. It was concluded that the pedagogical strategies prioritize the didactic resources in the educational practice.
