Perfil dos microorganismos isolados de uma unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal

Abstract

This study describes the etiology of the infections in a neonatal intensive care unit in the in the University Hospital of Saint Maria, RS, Brazil, and the antibacterial susceptibility of the bacterias, from June 2004 to July 2005. Retrospective data were collected of the 1411 cultivated samples in this period. Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (CNS) was the most frequently pathogen isolated, followed by Escherichia coli and Candida spp.
