Educação ambiental na educação do campo: o caso das escolas inseridas no assentamento Filhos de Sepé - Viamão/RS

This work is the result of research to prepare the monograph, Specialization in Environmental Education Center of Rural Sciences, Federal University of Santa Maria, and aimed to understand how environmental education is developed in rural schools of the Settlement “Filhos de Sepe” (E.M.E.F. Nossa Senhora de Fatima and ESE Rui Barbosa). The Rural Education has been waging a battle on the national scene to face the social problems related to agrarian structure and land tenure. As well environmental education treated in this research from the complex thought, is of paramount importance to the development of society, the Rural Education and Environmental Education are directly related to the model of capitalist production, in the sense of being the counterpoint to economic growth and are present on the agendas of social movements struggle. Environmental Education and Rural Education seeking the construction of knowledge formation of critical subjects, with the ability to think about the society in complex ways, delegitimizing an instrumental and fragmented education. Located inside land reform settlement, these schools should consider this particularity, considering culture, social rights and the peasant way of life in the construction of a new model of education based on personal autonomy. The survey was conducted in four steps: the first consisted of theoretical research on the subject, seeking the counterpoints of traditional education; the second was focused on collecting data from secondary sources, with the intention to understand the scope of the Environmental Education and Rural Education; the third corresponded to collecting primary data through fieldwork, empirical observations were conducted, interviews and informal conversations that formed the basis of analysis, performed using contrast between discourse and pedagogical practices. The fourth and final step consisted in the synthesis of the collected data, interpreting them critically and qualitatively in order to understand how environmental education is being developed in these schools, considering its specificities, while rural Education. The reality found in the study was an instrumental Environmental Education, which despite the efforts of the educators, the lack of critical and reflective formation, does not allow the development of projects of emancipation of the subject that actually address the environmental issue in its dialectical counterpoint , critically, formulating the interpretation of the global crisis of modern society.
