This paper seeks to summarize and present the main considerations made in research for the Working Specialization Course Completion in School Management - UFSM in 2015, which aimed to understand the role of manager / director of two schools of Education Children, the city of Santa Maria / RS, in relation to early childhood education. Knowing that early childhood education is one of the most favorable periods for the construction of knowledge, it should then reflect on this schooling stage, trying to understand this process because, I believe, a very important piece to school is the manager. Thus, we sought to: investigate the design of managers / directors on the management of early childhood education and analyzing the prospects and challenges of managers in kindergarten. The study was developed from a qualitative approach, characterized as a case study. As data collection instrument was used the questionnaire that was answered by the two managers / directors. Through research, evidence of the importance attached to the work of management and the search for a participatory and democratic management, prioritizing the collective work for a quality education.
