Resumen
Pleuroperitoneal hernia, or true diaphragmatic hernia, are congenital anomalies of diaphragmatical development and has rare occurrence in dogs, cats and humans. The only treatment for diaphragmatic hernia is surgical regardless of its etiology is traumatic or congenital. The laparoscopic surgery has proven to be safe and effective in the diagnosis of this condition since at the imaging exams, herniated content may be confused with pulmonary masses. It has also been shown to be reliable in treating this type of anomaly relying on the advantages of minimally invasive procedures such as reduction of trauma, convalescence period and postoperative complications. The objective of this report is to contribute with a technique of laparoscopic reduction of pleuroperitoneal hernia in a dog using synthetic implant of polypropylene mesh.
