dc.description.abstractIn the industry of manufactured products, changes in product specifications and processes are common and can create opportunities of innovations, product quality improvements, cost reduction and financial return to the customer, as well as gains for the environment and society. The use of biogas in slaughterhouses brings economic and environmental benefits to the production process - the focus on energy efficiency allows more economical solutions and also benefits to the environment. The literature research was conducted on the basis of product development studies and the use of biogas in slaughterhouses. This case study proposes the use of biogas in the process of singeing pigs, alternating the use of liquefied petroleum gas component (LPG) for biogas. This work was applied on SULMAQ company, a manufacturer of machinery and solutions for the red meat industry. The results of this study show that the use of biogas in the singeing process is a more assertive solution, resulting in environmental gains with the use of clean energy, and also economic gains being a solution with a cheaper consumables. These results reflect the quality of products and customer satisfaction.
