Resumen
This study aims to verify if in the context of the gaucho education, the government proposals have managed to overcome the logic of the classification evaluation. To clarify this question, through the methodology of case study, this research brings a brief survey of basic concepts of evaluation as to its function and a concept of Emancipatory Assessment, as stated in Brazilian legislation and its practical applications. Also important is documentary research to establish a history of government policies regarding the evaluation of school results and an account of the challenges of school management in the context of political alternation in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Results point out that the discontinuity in the public policies of the state education network has generated uncertainties and has not contributed to the implementation of an emancipatory evaluation process.
