The quantification of glycated hemoglobin levels give evidence of clinical evaluation at long term control of glucose levels. Several methods have been used in clinical laboratories for the quantification of glycated hemoglobin but the lack of the standardization methods reduce the use of these and makes it difficult to compare inter-laboratorial results. The purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of using glycated hemoglobin concepts, as a marker for the diabetes patients control. The use of this test is going to benefit the diabetes community and the whole society.
