Incidência de acidentes por ofídios no município de Lavras do Sul

Abstract

The accidents with ophidians are very common and constitute a major public health problem in all tropical countries due to the many serious cases and still today they lead many people to deaths, especially in places of difficult access to treatment, in a short space of time. This work has for objective to study the number of accidents with ophidians that occurred in the last twelve years in the town of Lavras do Sul and the verification of the incidence of accidents in this place in order, the awareness and perception of the population about the importance of knowledge about the risks. The work was developed through data collection from the secretary of health of Lavras do Sul and it was performed concomitantly with the construction of an informative booklet about accidents. The present study describes the accidents with ophidians that occurred in the town of Lavras do Sul in the period from 2000 to 2012. Were recorded in Lavras do Sul in these periods one hundred and thirty-one cases of accidents with ophidians. The genus Bothrops was the most involved in accidents, the victims were all male, in age from 20 to 30 years there was the largest number of accidents in the period studied . The lower limbs were the most affected. One hopes that the data obtained in this study can contribute to an improvement in information and reduction of accidents with ophidians in the municipality.
