The present study has aimed to perform the Moyers analysis in plaster models by the traditional method (manually), the Moyers analysis in 3D virtual models scanned through the flatbed scanner and the analysis in 3D virtual models obtained by multislice computed tomography and to compare the results of these three methods of analysis among themselves. In order to do so, 90 models of inferior arch were selected from patients in the mixed dentition phase, belonging to the orthodontic documentation of the subject of Orthodontics of the Federal University of Santa Maria. These 90 models were analyzed by a single, previously trained and calibrated examiner, both for manual Moyers analysis and for virtual analyzes. The manual analysis was performed with a digital caliper and according to the method recommended by the author, the virtual analyzes were performed on the same plaster models scanned by a flatbed scanner and by multislice computed tomography. The software in which the virtual Moyers analysis was performed was Netfabb Basic 7.4 and the software HOROS 3.0 was used to convert the DICOM images of the models obtained by multislice computed tomography into STL images. The MeshMixer 3.2 program was used to make model cutouts and adjustments to tomographic images. After the data collection, the statistical analysis was carried out. The data were analyzed for normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests, and the ANOVA / Bonferroni test for repeated measures was used to compare the different methods of analysis (normal distribution of data). The Bland-Altman analysis was used to evaluate the agreement between the methods. No statistical differences were found between the virtual methods of analysis when compared to the manual method (gold standard) and the methods seemed in agreement with each other. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the virtual models obtained by means of flatbed scanner and multislice computed tomography are accurate and generate reliable values from the clinical point of view when compared to conventional plaster models.
